Parents speak out!

Let’s be honest, being a parent isn’t easy, and being a parent of a trans child can be daunting. Our kids face many challenges as they move through puberty but for trans kids this transition can be more difficult.

When a government makes your job as a parent unnecessarily difficult by refusing to allow your child access to medical care, as parents we need to act.

And that’s what this website is about. On this site you will find tips on:

  • How to write to and request an interview with MPs

  • Topics and various points that are important to discuss with MPs.

MPs need to know about the negative impact their legislation is having on trans young people. Puberty is hard enough, but if a child is forced to live through it in the wrong body it can be life-threatening.

Without access to gender affirming medical treatment (including puberty blockers), trans people may endure the results of the government’s decision far into adulthood, enduring expensive and painful surgeries to remove unwanted reminders of their assigned genders.

Of course, if puberty blockers had been given, fewer surgeries would be needed to assist young adults’ transitions.

Gender-affirming care is healthcare

The Queensland Government has paused all new prescriptions for gender-affirming medical treatment through the public system care following a review announced on 28 January 2025 regarding its paediatric gender health services.

As part of this review Queensland has 'paused' gender health services for young people under 18 years age for puberty blockers and gender-affirming hormone therapy. This decision is causing harm to trans youth, preventing more than 400 young Queenslanders from accessing health care.

Despite the Queensland Supreme Court ruling (28 October 2025) that the ban was unlawful the Queensland Government reinstated the ban the next day. Services remain closed to new patients under 18 leaving over 400 young people without access to gender-affirming care.

Take action!

Join us in creating a welcoming community where transgender youth, their families and allies can find advocacy support to challenge this decision and empower young trans people to get the health care they need and deserve.
